The pathway offers 6 months of training in Addis Ababa followed by a 2–3 year paid apprenticeship in Germany through the renowned German dual vocational training system. The application deadline is 15 October 2026.

The Ethio-German Apprenticeship Pathway (STEP) is a dual vocational training programme that gives Ethiopians with at least A2-level German proficiency the chance to gain practical, internationally recognized skills — and earn a salary — in Germany. Run under the Ethio-German Sustainable Training and Education Programme (STEP) with support from Ethiopia's Ministry of Labor and Skills and FTVTI, it connects Ethiopian talent with Germany's world-class vocational education system.

Documents Required
You must submit the following with your application:
CV — detailing your education, work history, and sector experience
Motivation letter — explaining why you want to join the pathway
Official German Language Certificate — from Goethe, TELC, or ÖSD (A2/B1 level)
Academic credentials — High School, TVT, or Bachelor's degree certificate
National ID or Passport — valid identification
Optional (but strengthens your application):
Recommendation letters
Proof of work experience
Tip: Applications without an official A2/B1 German certificate from Goethe, TELC, or ÖSD cannot be considered — book your exam immediately if you don't yet have one.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be aged 20–35 years
Hold a High School, TVT, Bachelor's, or MA degree
Have German language proficiency at A2/B1 level
Have good English communication skills
Have relevant sector experience — an asset, though not mandatory
Be motivated, flexible, and open-minded
